Privacy policy

Last updated: 16 September 2026

DaTang Trading Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 65 141 377 068) trades as Mango Trees Australia and ManGo Sports. We respect your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you visit mangotrees.com.au, shop with Mango Trees Australia, chat with us, or otherwise deal with us. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • Contact details: name, email, phone number, and billing and delivery addresses.
  • Order details: products viewed, carted, bought, returned or exchanged, and delivery and pickup details.
  • Payment details: payment method and transaction confirmation. Card and PayPal payments are processed by Shopify and our payment providers; we don't store full card numbers.
  • Account details: login details, preferences and order history.
  • Communications: messages, emails, calls, chat conversations, reviews, and photos or videos you send us (for example, for a damaged-item claim).
  • Business details (wholesale applicants): business name, ABN and contact person.
  • Technical and usage data: IP address, device and browser details, pages visited, and cookie and similar data.

You can browse our website without giving us your name. We'll need some personal information to process an order, answer an enquiry or handle a claim.

How we collect it

  • Directly from you: when you order, create an account, contact us, use our chat, subscribe, submit a review or claim, or apply for a wholesale account.
  • Automatically: through our Shopify-hosted website, cookies and similar technologies.
  • From service providers: for example, payment providers, delivery carriers, review platforms, and marketplaces you buy from us through.

Why we use it

  • To process and deliver orders, arrange pickups, and handle returns, refunds, exchanges and warranty claims.
  • To answer your questions, including through our website chat, and to keep records of our conversations.
  • To manage your account and any wholesale account.
  • To prevent, detect and investigate fraud, security issues and misuse.
  • To improve our website, products and service, including by analysing how the site is used.
  • To send marketing (email or SMS) where you've agreed or the law otherwise allows. Every marketing message includes a way to unsubscribe, in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
  • To comply with our legal obligations, such as tax, consumer law and record-keeping requirements.

We use personal information only for the purpose we collected it for, a related purpose you'd reasonably expect, or as the law permits.

Website chat and automated answers

  • Our website chat runs on Shopify Inbox and may be answered by an automated AI assistant. The assistant uses our published policies, product information and store content.
  • Chat messages are stored by Shopify and may be read by our team to help you and to improve our answers.
  • The assistant can only share order details after you sign in to your account.
  • The assistant doesn't make decisions about refunds, claims or accounts; our team does.
  • You can ask for a person. During business hours we'll pass your chat to our team; outside business hours we'll reply by email. Please don't share card numbers or passwords in chat.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed with:

  • Shopify, which hosts our store, checkout, customer accounts and chat;
  • payment providers, such as Shopify Payments and PayPal;
  • delivery carriers, freight companies and partner warehouses that fulfil your order;
  • IT, email, marketing, analytics and review service providers that work for us;
  • our professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers;
  • government agencies, regulators or others where the law requires or authorises it.

We don't sell your personal information.

Overseas disclosure

  • Some of our service providers and suppliers, such as our e-commerce platform, payment providers and partner warehouses, store or process information outside Australia, in the countries where their systems operate.
  • We take reasonable steps to make sure these providers protect personal information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Shopify's own use of data

  • Shopify, which hosts our store, also uses some information about your interactions with our store and other Shopify stores to provide and improve its services.
  • For those purposes, Shopify is responsible for your information. See the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and the Shopify Privacy Portal.

Cookies and analytics

  • Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to run the store (for example, your cart and login), remember your preferences, understand how the site is used, and measure marketing.
  • You can control cookies in your browser settings. Some features may not work if cookies are turned off.
  • Where a cookie banner is shown, you can manage your choices there.

Keeping it secure

  • We hold personal information electronically, mainly in our Shopify store, email and business software, and in limited paper records such as delivery and pickup documents.
  • We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. These include using reputable platforms, restricting access to staff who need it, and securing our accounts.
  • We keep information only as long as we need it for business or legal purposes (for example, tax records for at least five years), then delete or de-identify it.
  • If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we'll notify the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Accessing and correcting your information

  • You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us (details below).
  • We'll respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days. There's no fee to make a request.
  • If we can't give you access or make the correction, we'll explain why in writing, unless that would be unreasonable.

Complaints

  • If you think we've mishandled your personal information, please contact us first. We'll acknowledge your complaint and aim to respond within 30 days.
  • If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner: www.oaic.gov.au, phone 1300 363 992.
  • New Zealand customers can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (NZ) at www.privacy.org.nz.

Children

Our website isn't intended for children to use on their own. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on our website, with the date it was last updated.
